My Fitness Pal is a great app. Not only have I lost 29 lbs. since using MFP, starting in July (33 lbs. total), but I also enjoy its many features. For instance, MFP has its own blog full of recipes and exercise tips. Since I am pre-diabetic and I’m trying to lose weight, I have to stick to those recipes that are low in calories and low in carbs.
This recipe sounds good, plus it’s high protein, low calorie, low carb (only 13 net carbs), and low sugar. Additionally, since we’re having a heat wave here in SoCal, and this recipe calls for a crock pot, this is a perfect meal for me to make. No turning on the oven. The salad sounds yummy, too. I love tomatoes, cucumbers, and feta cheese.

Recipe looks good and yes, using a crock pot in this heat is a life saver. Heck, working 8 hours per day, I use my crock pot frequently. Trouble is, I am often out of the house for up to 10 hours and some recipes are absolutely destroyed by the time I get to them. Other recipes I can get away with – soupier, brothier recipes work.
This recipe, being that it takes 4-hours, would be an excellent Sunday dinner. 🙂

That’s true… It would especially work well on the weekends.

One of the keys for successful long term weight loss is beginning with a REALISTIC approach. All diet plans work. The problem is people get board and fail the diet. Whether it’s exercise, diet or anything else in life that involves discipline, make it doable! Although everyone wants speedy results, the “tortoise” ALWAYS wins the race. Constant forward motion regardless of the length of the stride yields positive LONG TERM results.

Definitely. The path you take should never be a quick fix or fad diet. It should be a path that is sustainable for the rest of your life.
